IBAG 10th Annual Educational Conference & Exhibition

The 10th Annual Educational Conference & Exhibition of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) took place from March 18th to 22nd, 2024, at the Rock City Hotel in Kwahu. Under the theme “Leadership: Building Resilience through Cooperation and Ethical Conduct,” the event brought together industry leaders, experts, and professionals to discuss critical issues shaping the insurance sector.

✅ Address by Ag. Commissioner of Insurance
Dr. Abibah Zakariah, Chairman and Keynote Speaker, highlighted the persistent ethical challenges within the industry and the NIC’s ongoing efforts to address them through regulatory reforms and technology-driven solutions. She emphasized the role of brokers as a bridge between clients and insurers, urging adherence to ethical standards.

✅ Expert Insights on Leadership & Ethics
The conference featured engaging panel discussions with distinguished speakers:

Kenneth Thompson (Former CEO, Dalex Finance) – Emphasized resilience in leadership and the importance of team management for achieving results.

Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo (Justice of the Court of Appeal) – Provided legal insights on transparency in insurance to prevent unethical practices.

CK Akonnor (Former Black Stars Coach) – Highlighted the need for tough decisions in leadership, stressing that talent alone is not enough without the right attitude.

Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Former UT Bank CEO) – Shared lessons on accountability, learning from setbacks, and focusing on the future.

Lady Justina (Clinical Psychologist) – Spoke on mental resilience, stress management, and the psychological aspects of leadership.

✅ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative
As part of its commitment to community development, IBAG leadership and members visited Mpraeso Senior High School. They made donations and educated students on the importance of insurance and potential career paths in the industry.
