Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) 9th Annual Educational Conference and Exhibition

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) 9th Annual Educational Conference and Exhibition held in Bolgatanga from the 19th to 23rd March was a significant event aimed at enhancing the insurance industry in Ghana. The theme, “Building a Consistent Customer Service Culture: A tool for Increasing Insurance Penetration,” underscored the importance of customer-centric approaches in driving industry growth.
The presence of stakeholders from various sectors provided a platform for robust discussions on key issues affecting the insurance landscape in Ghana. The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu, emphasized the necessity of fostering a service culture to adapt to the evolving dynamics of the industry. He highlighted the pivotal role of insurance brokers in promoting economic growth and urged for a continued commitment to professionalism and trust-building.
Madam Yvonne Ohui Maccarthy, President and Head Consultant of the Institute of Customer Service Professional (ICSP), delivered a compelling presentation on the Ghana Customer Service Index (GCSI). Her insights delved into evaluating the performance of the insurance sector and offered recommendations such as innovation, customer feedback analysis, professionalism enhancement, safety protocol improvement, and employee training.
Moreover, the conference extended its impact beyond industry discussions by engaging with educational institutions like Bolgatanga Girls SHS and Bolgatanga Senior High School. Students were educated about the insurance sector and its career opportunities, while IBAG also contributed essential items to support the schools’ needs.
Additionally, delegates had the chance to explore cultural and historical sites like the Paga Crocodile Pond and the Pikworo Slave Camp. These visits provided a deeper understanding of Ghana’s heritage and history, enriching the delegates’ experience.
